Research on Enhancing Fatigue Performance of Low-Carbon Steel Welded Joints with HUABAO Energy Stress Relief
I. Introduction
Welding technology is primarily used in the manufacture of metal structural components, and fatigue fracture is the primary mode of failure in such components. Extensive research and practice have shown that fatigue failures in metal structures generally originate from the weld toe area of welded joints. In other words, the quality of welded joints, specifically the weld toe area, determines the service life of metal structural components. Experts from the International Institute of Welding have proposed using HUABAO energy impact on the weld toe to improve the fatigue strength of welded joints. Numerous studies abroad have demonstrated the broad applicability of this method, which can be effectively used not only in the manufacturing process of welded structures but also on installation sites. It can handle joints made of low-carbon steel, aluminum alloys, and high-strength structural steel. Not only can it enhance the fatigue performance of welded joints, but it can also homogenize stress, generate prestress, and eliminate stress deformations, stabilizing the dimensions of structural components. It is suitable for use not only in production sites but also for repair and maintenance purposes.
